2016 Alberta Minister’s Award for Construction Innovation – Nisku Spine Road
Urban Systems was recently awarded a 2016 Alberta Minister’s Award for Construction Innovation for our work on the Nisku Spine Road. The project was the construction of the first phase of a four-lane divided freeway that connects the City of Edmonton to Nisku and eventually the City of Leduc. Urban Systems completed the preliminary and detailed engineering design and tendering and provided survey layout and construction services. The next phase will be constructed this year and continuing into 2017.
The award was in the construction innovation category for the “Best Value” procurement model that was used in the acquisiton of a Contractor and the resulting success of the project through construction. It was awarded to Urban Systems in partnership with our client (Leduc County), the contractors, sub-contractors, and the rest of the project team.
