The City of Victoria has set a bold goal and vision to be the world’s best small city for cycling. We worked with the City to lead an international ‘dream team’ – including Alta Planning + Design, Gehl Architects, and 8 80 Cities – to lead the initiative, branded as #BIKETORIA.
This session will tell the #BIKETORIA story from a range of perspectives, including consultants, staff, politicians, and community leaders, as well as an overview of the process with specific lessons on how leadership and bold commitments from the city can help to create the circumstances for transformative change, and what other communities can learn from a rapid implementation project such as this.

This evening event will include short pecha kucha presentations from politicians, municipal staff, and cycling advocates from cities across Canada, including Victoria, Calgary, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal, and Halifax.
