This year the 6th Winter City Congress is being held in Moscow, Russia. What is the Winter City Congress? It is an annual conference that gathers hundreds of experts from around the world to discuss opportunities for cycling in cold climate cities. The conference gives delegates the opportunity to learn more about building and maintaining year-round cycling infrastructure in northern countries. We are excited to announce that our own Jamie Hilland from Winnipeg will be attending the event, he will be helping facilitate the following workshop:

Transportation projects often impact a variety of stakeholders and public engagement can help decision makers better understand what is important to stakeholders. Purposeful public engagement can lead to better project decisions, stronger relationships between stakeholders and trust between governments and citizens. Inclusive engagement provides opportunities to better understand stakeholder’s needs and values as well as collaborate with groups that may be difficult to reach. Attend this hands-on workshop if you want to learn and share engagement strategies that add value to any project. Participants will create a preliminary plan for public engagement for a multi-modal transportation project, consider perspectives of multiple stakeholders, share public engagement challenges and explore innovative solutions, take a collaborative group learning approach with discussion and brainstorming.

Participants will:

  • Create a preliminary plan for public engagement for a multi-modal transportation project

  • Share public engagement challenges and explore innovative solutions
