We helped the Cowichan Valley Regional District with a regional planning and facilitation process for water governance and management, a critical issue in many communities due to population growth, land development and climate change. The CVRD wanted to establish a new framework based on BC’s new Water Sustainability Act and act on local interest for better decision making. We established a task force representing 55 organizations to act as an advisory body to the CVRD. It also acted as a hub for the strategic planning process, which included 10 workshops and working sessions. The recommended path ensures parties within the region will work together under a new framework to coordinate the health of the watershed.
