We worked with the people of Doig River First Nation to establish British Columbia’s first Urban Reserve in the City of Fort St. John. Urban Systems facilitated a collaborative process as well as numerous stakeholder workshops and meetings to help develop a common vision for the Urban Reserve and for the reconciliation of the two communities. The Urban Reserve signifies an important milestone in community relations as the two parties have historically not worked together on community land use planning issues. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Doig River First Nations and the City of Fort St. John, which signifies the commitment of the parties to work together in the future and promote cooperative relationship building.
