This LEED Gold certificated facility uses innovative membrane filtration technology to provide high quality drinking water to the City of Kamloops. The Kamloops Centre for Water Quality represents commitment to conservation and environmental stewardship through planning, design and construction.
We built a wetland around the building that’s irrigated through non-potable water from the treatment process and innovative drainage from the building and site. A weir overflowing through a constructed stream to a storm main inlet controls the water level in the wetland. A green roof over the first level of the administration wing has both environmental and aesthetic benefits and includes hardy drought tolerant plants and drip irrigation. The landscape around the site includes regionally adaptable plant species and a significant area has been restored to native grasslands.
