As part of the area structure plan to guide land use, subdivision and development in the New Serepta area, Urban Systems was retained to prepare an environmental assessment report to identify environmental features which would need to be considered and thoughtfully incorporated into the area structure plan document. A site visit was undertaken to identify environmentally sensitive habitat features within the New Sarepta plan area. A total of 50 environmentally sensitive habitat features, and 5 habitat types, were identified during the reconnaissance of the plan area. Provincial and federal resources were reviewed to determine potential species at risk in the area. Results of this review indicated a total of 12 bird species potentially at risk within the area. Recommendations were made as to when land clearing and construction should take place in order to minimize the adverse effects on the birds.
