We are working with the City of Fort St. John to develop a micro-hydro power project that pipes treated water from the City’s South Lagoon wastewater facility to a new turbine in order to generate and sell electricity. The effluent provides the mechanical energy to turn the turbine and produce about 930 megawatt hours of power every year.
We will be twinning approximately 600 meters of the existing outfall pipe at South Lagoon to bring effluent to the powerhouse. Once it runs through the turbine, the effluent continues to discharge through the existing outfall to the Peace River. The project builds on the City’s commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency and conservation.
