Phase 1 – Lytton First Nation Property Development Area

Project Description

Urban Systems Ltd. was retained by Lytton First Nation to undertake a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) as defined in the Canadian Standards Association document Z768-01. In the general, the Phase I ESA was conducted to identify areas of potential environmental concern (generally soil and groundwater) associated with the current and historical uses of the property. The scope of work consisted of a records review including historical title searches (where available), fire insurance records, the federal contaminated sites inventory, the provincial contaminated sites registry, property use records, company records, geological and geotechnical reports, regulatory information and water well records; a review of historical aerial and on-site photographs; a site visit to inspect the property, equipment, land, surface water and adjacent properties for indicators of contamination; personal interviews to corroborate and augment the information from the records review; a review of any information as to which substances on the site may cause contamination; a review of relevant historical environmental assessment and ESA records, if any; and an evaluation of information gathered and preparation of a standalone report documenting the results of the above findings.
