We worked with the City of Vancouver on the Transit Strategy component for Transport 2040 – a long-term multi-modal transportation plan. This work involved detailed review of several themes based on input and dialogue with the community, including intermediate to high capacity transit corridors, fleet guidelines, paratransit, transit stop accessibility, transit priority corridors and fare policy analysis. The review included a comprehensive development of transit mode share targets as well as a complete assessment of current, committed and potential intermediate capacity transit corridors. In particular, a range of incremental strategies to build the intermediate transit capacity of the network was needed to recognize the importance of frequent and rapid bus networks to support growth and influence mode choices.
