Edmonton Vibrant Communities Speaker Series – Reconciliation
Miranda Jimmy, Kasey Machin, Jane Purvis and Anna Marie Sewell are part of Reconciliation in Solidarity Edmonton (RISE) and discuss their own thoughts and ideas about what reconciliation means to them.
Part of having complete, vibrant communities, is ensuring all people are respected and honoured for their contributions. This is something we as a nation and as a community have fallen short on throughout our time on this land. Reconciliation is necessary to advance our communities and work together with Indigenous peoples. But what does reconciliation mean? How can we contribute? RISE is a group of citizens in the Edmonton region who are committed to supporting reconciliation in words and actions. They have grown out of the needs left by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and are intent on helping to maintain momentum in this key area. We are lucky to have four members of RISE here to hold a panel discussion on reconciliation in Edmonton.
