Year-End Wrap Up: Our Top Stories of 2017
2017 has been another exciting year at Urban Systems. We launched new offices at opposite ends of Western Canada in Courtenay, BC and Winnipeg, MB, held countless community events focused on a variety of topics from Youth Mentorship to Social Innovation, and supported a number of local organization making an impact in our communities. We also saw how technology is changing our approach to our work, using drones to help assess damage after a landslide in Peachland, BC, developing apps with real-time trail information during the construction of the Okanagan Rail Trail, and examining the role Civic Tech will play in how municipalities and companies like our own address the needs of their communities in the years to come. Every office has welcomed new and enthusiastic faces, and we’ve had to say goodbye to others who will remain in our hearts always. Each Urban Systems staff has also contributed to us being named a Great Place to Work for the twelfth consecutive year, an accomplishment we are humbled and honoured to achieve, knowing it’s our people that make the difference.
To say goodbye to 2017, we thought we’d highlight five of our most popular stories of the year. May 2018 bring new adventures, new opportunities, and the chance to grow and learn as a community!
