Urban Systems wins a Planning Institute of BC Gold Award
Congratulations to the City of Vancouver and our own Brian Patterson and Sarah Freigang who where named as Gold Award winners by the Planning Institute of British Columbia (PIBC). They won the award for their work crafting the Making Cycling Safer for People of All Ages and Abilities: The City of Vancouver’s Cycling Safety Study and Action Plan.
The Action Plan involved a comprehensive assessment of where, when, and why cycling collisions and injuries occur, and who was involved. It included an Action Plan to address the identified safety issues. You can read a summary of the report here.
The City of Vancouver is one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in North America and according to the 2011 Canadian National Household Survey, cycling accounts for approximately 4.4% of all trips to work in the City of Vancouver.
