Cambrian Crossing is a proposed subdivision located within Strathcona County, North of Highway 16 between the Oldman Creek and Highway 21 in Alberta. A Floodplain Study was required prior to development of the subdivision to determine the 100-year floodplain and establish appropriate setbacks and development limits. The study area included the reach of Oldman Creek between Highway 16 and the downstream Canadian Pacific Railway Crossing.
A detailed cross-section survey was completed for approximately 4.5 km of the OldmanCreek on the west boundary of the Cambrian Crossing development. This project included a regional analysis to determine design flows, development of a HEC-RAS model using the detailed survey information, and the delineation of the 100-year floodplain based on the modeled results along the length of the surveyed Creek.
