An environmental assessment was undertaken by Urban Systems for the Sneena Road Extension and Highway 97 Overpass project. This environmental assessment program was developed to satisfy the Westbank First Nation Terms of Reference for Completing Environmental Assessments and the environmental assessment process prescribed by the British Columbia Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure. The purpose of this environmental assessment was to evaluate the environmental effects of the project to identify appropriate mitigation measures and to determine the significance of any residual environmental effects. The environmental assessment included the effects of any malfunctions or incidents that may occur in connection with the project and any cumulative environmental effects that are likely to result from the project in combination with other projects or activities that have been or will be carried out. Data collection methods consisted of a document review, team planning sessions, internet-based searches and field reconnaissance.
