The City of North Vancouver engaged Urban Systems to develop a long-range, multi-modal transportation plan considering each of the primary modes of travel – namely, walking, cycling, transit, and the road network as well as a Travel Demand Management (TDM) strategy. The emphasis of the Plan is to increase use of alternative travel modes that will result in health benefits from active living, vibrant streets, paths and places, lower per capita greenhouse gas emissions and minimize overall impact on the environment. The transportation plan was adopted by city council in April, 2008. Following adoption of the plan, Urban Systems prepared a detailed implementation and monitoring strategy.
