We are working with the Quad Regional Water Partnership to address water quality and quantity issues in the region south of Calgary that encompasses the Town of Turner Valley, Town of Black Diamond, MD of Foothills, and Village of Longview.
The feasibility, financial analysis, design and construction project involves expanding the source water supply and treatment at Turner Valley and connecting the Town of Black Diamond to the treatment plant via a regional transmission main. We helped with public consultation, facilitating governance, business case and financial analysis, grant applications, detailed engineering and construction inspection for the transmission pipeline.
The 2013 floods devastated Black Diamond’s wells and water treatment plant, requiring the urgent construction of the 6.4 km regional transmission main. We installed most of the main with trenchless methods using fused PVC and HDPE so as to minimize damage to existing roadways. And because of concerns over the significant number of oil and gas crossings, we installed steel casings at all crossings. The project was designed, tendered and constructed in under four months.
