Hudson's Hope Solar Installation

The District of Hudson's Hope is a small rural community in northeast BC with a big vision for solar energy. The District installed 500 kW of grid-tied solar panels on nine municipal buildings, which now generate between 50% and 100% of each facility's power. To fund the project, the District applied for and received $1.35 million through a provincial gas tax grant from the Union of BC Municipalities. Urban Systems has been part of the project from the start, from early brainstorming through project management and oversight of construction. At the time it was built, the array was the largest for any municipality in BC, making Hudson's Hope a regional leader in renewable energy.
