Collaborating with Fisheries and Oceans Canada
Urban Systems has partnered with Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) since 2018, building a trusted relationship grounded in collaboration and reliability. This work has recently expanded through a new multi-year standing offer.
Our support focuses on water engineering, land planning, asset management, and public facilities, helping protect wild salmon in British Columbia.
A key initiative is the design of two conservation hatcheries to support vulnerable salmon stocks in the Chilcotin and Kitwanga Rivers. Working alongside DFO and partner Nations, our team leads site development, civil infrastructure, aquaculture systems, and project delivery. These facilities will be operated by the Tsilhqot’in National Government and Gitanyow Fisheries Authority.
Together, this work reflects a shared commitment to practical, collaborative solutions that support both ecosystems and communities.
