Cluxewe Resort, owned and operated by the Kwakiutl First Nation on northern Vancouver Island, had operated under a Do Not Consume advisory for years, affecting both visitors and resort operations. Working alongside the Nation and project partners, Urban Systems helped secure funding and deliver a new water treatment system that provides safe, reliable drinking water for guests and staff. Using a collaborative design-build approach, the team worked closely with treatment specialists, contractors, and local operators to develop a solution tailored to the remote site and support long-term operations. The project included operator training and capacity-building to support the system's ongoing success. Today, the advisory has been lifted, improving the visitor experience and providing reliable infrastructure to support the continued growth and long-term success of Cluxewe Resort.
