Housing Needs Assessment

Urban Systems supported the Northern Village of Ile-a-la Crosse in 2022 to undertake the development of a Housing Needs Assessment for the community. The purpose of the Housing Needs Assessment was to better understand current housing conditions in the community, identify housing challenges, and develop a plan to address short and long term housing need. For the purpose of this project, a community survey was developed and circulated to all households in the community. With the help of Village staff supporting data collection, a high rate of response was achieved and demographic indicators were consistent with the current Statistics Canada Census data. The resulting survey data analysis and outcomes from the study provided Village Council with a valuable tool in acquiring funding support for housing related projects and communicating the type and level of housing support needed in the community.
