Housing Needs Assessment

In 2022, Urban Systems supported the Northern Village of Île-à-la-Crosse in developing a Housing Needs Assessment for the community. The goal was to understand current housing conditions, identify housing challenges, and create a plan to meet both short- and long-term housing needs. The team developed a community survey that was sent to every household. With Village staff helping to collect responses, the survey achieved a high response rate, and its demographic results lined up with current Statistics Canada Census data. The findings gave Village Council a strong tool for securing funding for housing projects and for showing the type and level of housing support the community needs.
