Forest and Range Practices Act (FRPA) Province-Wide Engagement
The B.C. Forest and Range Practices Act (FRPA) governs on-the-ground forest and range activities on B.C.’s public forests and rangelands. In 2019, the B.C. government sought input from Indigenous communities, public, and key stakeholders on proposed changes to FRPA under two umbrella areas:
• Enable coordinated planning through a new framework for landscape level forest planning
• Enhance sustainability under the FRPA framework
Province-wide public and stakeholder engagement took place between May 27 - July 15, 2019 and included 25 information webinars, an online public survey and an opportunity for stakeholders to provide written submissions. Our team moderated the stakeholder information sessions attended by more than 775 participants. We then reported on feedback received from British Columbians through 2,290 online feedback forms and 115 written submissions. In addition to Indigenous input gathered through a separate process, public and stakeholder input informed important changes to the FRPA.
