Courtenay Transportation Master Plan (TMP) & Cycling Network Implementation

Urban Systems worked on behalf of the City of Courtenay to develop “Connecting Courtenay”, the City’s Transportation Master Plan (TMP). Connecting Courtenay focused on multi-modal solutions to promote a more sustainable pattern of growth and development, including needed road network connections, but with a focus on sustainable forms of transportation such as walking, cycling and transit. The process of developing the TMP included preparing a Cycling Network Plan to articulate the City’s long-term cycling network and priority improvements. This document allowed the City to apply for grant funding through which funding for two bikeway projects was secured.

Subsequent to the TMP process, our team has supported the City on bikeway corridor implementation. This included strategic sessions with Council and detailed design and construction management for the 5th Street complete street project and the 17th Street bikeway.
