Harmony is a mixed-use community being developed on 1,750 acres in the Rocky View County located adjacent to the Springbank Airport between Calgary and Cochrane. Harmony is comprehensively planned and combines a broad and extensive range of elements which focus on social, economic and environmental sustainability to ensure all generations are able to live, work, learn and play together - refered to as a “complete community”. One of the most important and challenging components of the Harmony project is to create a unique sense of place that promotes an interactive experience between humans and nature throughout the community. The character of Harmony will be shaped through the interrelationships of the site identity elements and their integration with the entire open space network. The design concept with respect to these elements shall incorporate a blend of natural and man made materials that invoke a sense of rhythm and balance between the built environment and the native landscape.
